CIVITAS Forum Conference 2013

The 11th edition of the annual CIVITAS Forum Conference took place between 30th  September and 2nd  October in the main metropolitan center of Western Brittany.

The presentations of the CIVITAS FORUM 2013 are now available!

‘Brest métropole océane’, representing the urban area around the city of Brest on the coast of Brittany in France, hosted the CIVITAS Forum Conference this autumn. For centuries, Brest has been one of the most important European harbours and home to the French Marine defence organisation on the Atlantic coast. Being at the centre of Western Brittany's largest metropolitan area, Brest is also the symbol of ancient traditions related to the sea and is one of the most important references in the European shipping industry. More recently, Brest has become a vital centre of research, banking and other emerging activities.

Between 30 September and 2 October Brest welcomed the CIVITAS Forum 2013, an annual event bringing together representatives of CIVITAS Forum Network's member cities including their politicians and technical experts, and supporting cities to introduce ambitious transport measures and policies towards sustainable urban mobility. For the very first time the CIVITAS forum has been hosted by a non-demonstration city, eager to present its achievements in terms of sustainable urban mobility to the CIVITAS community.

 

On behalf of CIVITAS' forum organising committee we would like to thank all the participants, speakers, moderators and the organisers of the CIVITAS forum 2013:  you made this event a success.

A special thank you to all the CIVITAS and NON CIVITAS cities that have joined the event and have worked hard to improve their sustainable urban mobility: you are the beating heart of CIVITAS!

Finally, we would like thank the City of Brest that warmly hosted the event and look forward to seeing you in the City of Casablanca, future host of the CIVITAS Forum 2014. Congratulations!
